CAPTaiN, US ARMY

Aug 1995 - Aug 2003

My experience in the US Army is not too different from many that have served. It changed my paradigm from one of searching out comfort to one of being comfortable with being uncomfortable. I learned leadership early in my adult life and was introduced to mountaineering in Alaska at the Northern Warfare Training Center. I learned about fear and my own mortality in Operation Iraqi Freedom with 2/3 ACR from Ramadi and Fallujah. I gained a lifetime of lessons that I’ve been able to leverage in every role I’ve been in since but also lost brothers that still pain me to this day. Most importantly, I learned that the benefits of service to something greater than oneself reaps the greatest rewards.
